SOME TIPS AND SUGGESTIONS FOR THIS HOLIDAY

  • We anticipate that the Timo ATM machines may be full the days before the holidays due to the sheer volume of withdrawals being made. You can also visit any local banks ATM to withdraw funds as you require without any fees.
  • If you want to deposit cash into your account we recommend you this before the holidays either via a CDM machine or through a bank transfer.

– For Christmas Holiday, we recommend you to deposit cash into your account before the end of 24th December 2018 (before 20:00 via a CDM machine at Timo Hangout or before 23:59 through a bank transfer).

– For New Year’s Holiday, we recommend you to deposit cash into your account before the end of 28th December 2018 (before 20:00 via a CDM machine at Timo Hangout or before 23:59 through a bank transfer).

  • How to check the location of CDMs? Choose CDM/ATM locator on the Menu bar from Timo App.
  • For inter-bank transactions via your account number, you will need to schedule an early transfer (no later than 23:59 on 24th December 2018 for Christmas Holiday and no later than 23:59 on 28th December 2018 for New Year’s Holiday) to avoid the transaction being held until the end of holidays.

– Those new customers who register and receive their Timo Debit Card before 31/10/2018 will only be able to qualify for the reward if they complete 1 transaction before 07/11/2018.

– 07 working days after 07/11/2018, qualified customers will receive an email confirmation, inviting them to go to the Reward section of my.timo.vn website, to receive the gift voucher as per promotion terms and conditions

– This page will be accessible for customers to access and receive the gift voucher from the date of receipt of the email confirmation until the 15/12/2018. After this day, customers will not be able to access this page to receive this voucher.

  1. How to participate

During the promotional period, existing Timo customers can invite other individuals to open a Timo bank account.   1. Rewards:

6.1 Inviter

 (i) Eligibility:

– Customers are members of Timo, Timo account is active

 (ii) Reward value:

–  50,000 VND for each successful invitation. There is no limit to the number of rewards.

(iii) Receiving the rewards:

Reward disbursement time: Timo will directly transfer the reward value to the Timo Spend Account of the participating Inviter within 30 (thirty) days from the end of promotion.

(iv) Resolving reward claims:

– Complaints should be sent directly to care@timo.vn with details / proof of claim (invitations to friends, related images) from the relevant email registered with Timo.

– Customers can find instructions, applicable brands and locations (with detailed addresses) and the specific expiry dates on the contents of the digital voucher.

(iii) Receiving the voucher:

  • Voucher disbursement time: Timo will send annoucement email to customer within 07 working days from 07 October 2018.
  • How to claim voucher code: Customers need to login to their Timo account from the website my.timo.vn, visit the Privileges section, and click on the button to claim the gift voucher code. Customers will be redirected to the gift provider page of Timo’s partner, Urbox.  The list is available at https://urbox.vn/brand/timo/287.html and is subject to change without notice.
  • The voucher link will continue to be available in the Privileges section of my.timo.vn website till November 27, 2018.
  • After November 15, 2018, the voucher link will no longer be accessible and the customer will no longer be able to claim the voucher.
    Timo employees are entitled to request the Customer to sign and provide information to confirm receipt of the gift if required.

(iv) Resolving voucher claims:

– Complaints or issues related to receiving or accessing link to vouchers from my.timo.vn can be sent directly to care@timo.vn from the relevant email registered with Timo.

– Complaints or issues arising during the redemption or use of the gift voucher can be directly sent to Timo’s Voucher partner Urbox via their hotline 0899 189 199

– All complaints must be received within 10 working days from the date of receipt of the announcement email. Complaints sent to the Organizing Committee after the above time will not be resolved.

– Complaints shall be settled within at least 5 working days.

 (v) Note about Voucher rewards:

– Voucher codes are selected randomly from Timo’s system.

– Voucher links are available for at least 30 days from the date of receipt of the email notification to claim the Voucher Code on my.timo.vn 

– Electronic Gift Voucher Code / Gift / Gift Certificate cannot be converted to cash.

– Each customer will only be entitled to 01 Electronic Gift Voucher converted into 01 Gift (selected by Customer) and is not required to change the Gift after receiving the Gift Code.

6.3 Gifts shall not be granted in the following cases:

  • In case the customer refuses the reward, the rewards will be cancelled.
  • In case customers open a Timo account but do not complete the required steps to qualify during the promotion period.
  • Members do not coordinate, work and comply with the procedures and process of giving rewards in accordance with the regulations of the Organizing Committee.
  • Due to the limited rewards, rewards are given to first-come-first-served customers. If the Organizing Committee is out of rewards, the following customers will not receive these gifts from Timo.
  • The program may end sooner than expected.
  • The customer has misrepresented the program to entice the cardholder and was reported by the participant or the agency to have discovered the misconduct.

So let’s get started with some common questions to ask before you pick a banking partner:

Can I open a bank account as a non-resident of Vietnam?
Most definitely. As an incoming expat you are free to open a bank account within the country.
What’s the process? How long does it usually take?
The formalities vary by different banks, but overall it’s quite simple:

  • Choose the bank where you want to open your account
  • You’ll need to bring some documents with you to the bank of your choice when you go to apply


  • Important notes:
    As per Circular 19/2016/TT-NHNN and 26/2017/TT-NHNN (effective from July 2019) issued by the State Bank of Vietnam, foreigners who are able to provide documents confirming their residential status in Vietnam for at least 12 months will be eligible to open bank accounts. The required list of documents are as follows:
    1/ Valid Passport as per law, in an acceptable condition that is clearly readable and identifiable (picture and text) for verification; AND
    2/ One of the following valid* documents with at least 12 months validity:
    + Vietnam visa, OR
    + Temporary resident card, OR
    + Permanent resident card
    *The above documents can have less than 12 months remaining, but must be valid at the time of applying to join Timo.  
    If you have any friends that are Foreign nationals, considering opening a Bank account with Timo or any other bank, spread the word.

  • Make an appointment online or simply visit one of the branches of the bank you choose

The process can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on the bank. The more efficient the account opening process, the shorter the time spent.
What banking fees are involved?
Like banks around the world, Vietnam too has its fees that you should be aware of. This will vary by bank and service. Some of the most common fee types include:

  • Transfer Fees

This is a lucrative revenue generator and most banks will charge fees for inter bank transfers starting at 3,000 VND to 33,000 VND. Some banks do not charge any fees.

  • ATM fees

Typically banks will not charge when withdrawing from their own ATM network, however using a different bank’s ATM might levy a fee, starting at 1,000 VND to 11,000 VND.

  • Service Fees

This varies by bank, but depending on the minimum deposit or balance maintained with the bank, this fee may or may not be applicable. The fee can range from 5,000 VND to 200,000 VND.

  • Internet banking

Most banks these days will not charge you for using Internet banking, however you could incur some fees from 10,000 VND upward with a select few.

– 15 working days after 07/08/2018, qualified customers will receive an email confirmation, inviting them to go to the Reward section of my.timo.vn website, to receive the gift voucher as per promotion terms and conditions. Invite Friends: a function which allows Timo members to share their unique link with their personal referral code to invite friends to join Timo. The invitee needs to access the correct personal referral link to complete the online registration and collect a Timo Debit Card at a Timo Hangout. Through this function, Timo determines the number of successful invitations per member during the program.

Successful invitation: means when the invitee clicks your unique link (link containing your referral code, for example, https://timo.vn?referredBy=XY123) and picks up their Timo Debit card no later than 05 July 2018 (within the operating hours at each Timo Hangout).

  1. How to participate

During the promotional period, existing Timo customers can invite other individuals to open a Timo bank account. When the Timo customer sends the invite and the Invitee opens a Timo account successfully, both the Inviter and the Invitee will receive a Timo gift under this Policy as long as a Inviter successfully invites at least 02 (two) friends.

  • For Inviters:

Option 1: A Timo customer performs the following steps:

+ Step 1: Sign in to your Timo account at https://my.timo.vn or through the Timo Application (iOS or Android version);

+ Step 2: Click on the Menu icon on the top left corner of the screen, select Invite friends and choose the “Send via email” button, enter the e-mail address of the person to be invited to open Timo account. Click “Submit”.

Option 2:

+ Step 1: Sign in to your Timo account at https://my.timo.vn or Timo Application (iOS or Android version);

Step 2: Click on the Menu icon on the left corner of the screen, select Invite friends and choose the “Send via others” button.

+ Step 3: Send out the link to open a Timo account containing referrer code for invitee.

Note:

  • Unlimited number of referrals is possible;
  • 01 introduction that successfully opens 01 Timo account is considered as 01 referral.
  • A minimum of 02 (two) successful referrals who open a Timo account during the promotion period will be entitled to receive gifts.
  • For 03 (three) or more successful referrals who open Timo account, each new referral will also receive 01 (one) gift.
  • 01 (one) successful referral who open Timo account, will not qualify either Referrer or Referee to receive a gift.

For Invitee:

+ Step 1: Click on the link sent by the Inviter.

+ Step 2: Provide full personal information (Full name on ID card, email address, mobile phone number, date of birth, ID card number, place of receiving card)

+ Step 3: Check Email from Timo to validate Email Address, create login name and password for Timo account.

+ Step 4: Book appointment online or await call from Timo Care to schedule and appointment to come to a Timo Hangout to finish the account opening process.

+ Step 5: Go to the Timo Hangout to complete the account opening procedure and get the Timo Debit card.

  • The deadline for invitees to open an account and receive Timo card is July 5, 2015 (as per Timo Hangout opening hours in each province).

+ Step 6: An email confirmation from Timo regarding qualification will be received as per campaign regulations below at Point 6.2 onwards. Successful invitees can  login to their Timo account via the website https://my.timo.vn/, select the Privilege section and claim their gift voucher code.

  1. Rewards:

6.1 Inviter

 (i) Eligibility:

– Customers are members of Timo, Timo account is active; and

– Customers make at least 02 successful invitations during the program.

 (ii) Reward value:

– 100.000 VND when 02 people have been successfully invited to open a Debit card at Timo Hangout and 50,000 VND for each successful invitation thereafter. There is no limit to the number of rewards.

(iii) Receiving the rewards:

Announcement time: Qualified participants will be informed via email (as per the address linked to Timo account) within 15 (fifteen) working days after the program ends.
Reward disbursement time: Timo will directly transfer the reward value to the Timo Spend Account of the participating Inviter within 20 (twenty) working days from the date of sending the announcement email to the referrer.

(iv) Resolving reward claims:

– Complaints should be sent directly to care@timo.vn with details / proof of claim (invitations to friends, related images) from the relevant email registered with Timo.

– All complaints must be received within 10 working days from the date of receipt of the announcement email. Complaints sent to the Organizing Committee after the above time will not be resolved.

– Complaints shall be settled within at least 5 working days.

6.2 Invitees

 (i) Eligibility:

New customers who are not members of Timo, have been invited by Timo customers through the link containing the referral code and have successfully received a Timo Debit card during the promotion period. .

 (ii) Reward:

– Customers will receive a digital voucher worth VND 75,000

– Customers can find instructions, applicable brands and locations (with detailed addresses) and the specific expiry dates on the contents of the digital voucher.

(iii) Receiving the voucher:

  • Notification: Timo will send an email to the qualified participant who has successfully opened a Timo account from a Referral link, within 15 (fifteen) working days from the end of the promotion on 05/07/2018.
  • Voucher disbursement time: Timo will notify customers to claim their gift voucher at the website my.timo.vn within 05 (five) working days from the date Timo sends the notification email.
  • How to claim voucher code: Customers need to login to their Timo account from the website my.timo.vn, visit the Privileges section, and click on the button to claim the gift voucher code. Customers will be redirected to the gift provider page of Timo’s partner, Urbox.  The list is available at https://urbox.vn/brand/timo/287.html and is subject to change without notice.
  • The voucher link will continue to be available in the Privileges section of my.timo.vn website till August 3, 2018.
  • After July 3, 2018, the voucher link will no longer be accessible and the customer will no longer be able to claim the voucher.
    Timo employees are entitled to request the Customer to sign and provide information to confirm receipt of the gift if required.

(iv) Resolving voucher claims:

– Complaints or issues related to receiving or accessing link to vouchers from my.timo.vn can be sent directly to care@timo.vn from the relevant email registered with Timo.

– Complaints or issues arising during the redemption or use of the gift voucher can be directly sent to Timo’s Voucher partner Urbox via their hotline 0899 189 199

– All complaints must be received within 10 working days from the date of receipt of the announcement email. Complaints sent to the Organizing Committee after the above time will not be resolved.

– Complaints shall be settled within at least 5 working days.

 (v) Note about Voucher rewards:

– Gift codes are selected randomly from Timo’s system.

– Voucher links are available for at least 30 days from the date of receipt of the email notification to claim the Voucher Code on my.timo.vn 

– Electronic Gift Voucher Code / Gift / Gift Certificate is not converted to cash.

– Each customer will only be entitled to 01 Electronic Gift Voucher converted into 01 Gift (selected by Customer) and is not required to change the Gift after receiving the Gift Code.

6.3 Gifts shall not be granted in the following cases:

  • In case the customer refuses the reward, the rewards will be cancelled.
  • In case customers open a Timo account but do not complete the required steps to qualify during the promotion period.
  • Members do not coordinate, work and comply with the procedures and process of giving rewards in accordance with the regulations of the Organizing Committee.
  • Due to the limited rewards, rewards are given to first-come-first-served customers. If the Organizing Committee is out of rewards, the following customers will not receive these gifts from Timo.
  • The program may end sooner than expected.
  • The customer has misrepresented the program to entice the cardholder and was reported by the participant or the agency to have discovered the misconduct.
  • Successful referrals are less than the number of Timo account subscribers specified in the program.

– By participating in this promotion program, customers are bound to accept all Terms and Conditions of the program, all the amendments (if any) and all the Terms and Conditions of the Timo Debit card.

– For cases where the organizers have uncovered fraudulent behaviour conducted by the promotion participants, or have engaged in illegal profiteering or affected Timo’s reputation, the Organizing Committee will disqualify the participant from receiving the reward without notice.

– In case there are more than 1 person sending an invitation to the same customer to register, Timo will qualify the inviter based on the valid referral link from which the invitee signed up.

– In case of disputes related to this promotion program, the Organizing Committee is responsible to resolve this directly with the disputer. If there is no mutual agreement, this issue will be dealt with in accordance with the current laws of Vietnam.

– The Organizers have the right to use the images and basic information including the name and city of the participant to promote and communicate the program.

– The decision of the Organizing Committee for the reward to inviters or any fraudulent activity is final.

– The promotion rules may change to suit participants. Nevertheless, the timeline & rewards will not be changed or reduced from those rules previously announced. Any amendments which shall occur will be inform publicly on Timo’s social channels/ website.

– Timo is not responsible if there are any cases of force majeure which occur at the time of the promotion program which result in inaccuracy for any transactions.

– Participants are responsible for paying Personal Income Tax and other fees if incurred later. Participants are bound to follow the rules and regulations, any procedure required to receive the reward from Timo. 

– Timo has the absolute authority on calculation of the applicable Personal Income Tax as per the laws of Vietnam.
